Chords & ConversationĀ

I’ll be reading/performing a few of my poems alongside some awesome musicians! This is a great venue that supports local arts and gives performers the opportunity to talk about the inspiration for their works. And, yes, I will probably be socially awkward because that’s how I roll. Might as well give me a mic to amplify it. šŸ˜€

Nomination for AWP Intro Award 2024!

One of my poems, “The Memory of Water,” was nominated for the 2024 AWP Intro Award in Poetry! I know the spectacular quality of work being written by some of the other poets, and I am beyond honored to be included among the nominees. Feels like I am dreaming. Really. This is incredible!Ā

Eudora Welty Symposium

Unfortunately, I will not be able to attend the Symposium this year after all. All my best to the presenters and attendees! The Eudora Welty Writers’ Symposium brings together Southern writers and scholars to present their work each October. It is named after writer Eudora Welty, a Mississippi-born, award-winning novelist, short story writer, and photographer who wrote stories about the South. This will be my first time attending!

MFA News

After applying (and thankfully, being accepted) to several MFA programs, I have chosen to attend the Low-Residency MFA program at Mississippi University for Women. There were a number of great programs to choose from, but MUW’s program is small and their faculty and students are friendly – plus the program is turning out award-winning writers in several genres. And, as anyone who has read my writing knows, family is priority, and their low-residency format works around real life. So excited to get started!
